Sea Bass

Sea Bass

Sea Bass is a very delicious, firm fleshed fish. They are really tasty and as with many fish simple quick cooking produces the best results. We have some great tips and recipes here for a lovely meal.

About Sea Bass

Sea bass has an attractive silvery skin with scales (which need to be removed before cooking). It also has some sharp spines on its fins and sharp areas around the gills. The flesh is a off white, which when cooked becomes a bright white. Sea bass is quite an oily fish compared with other white fish, about halfway between cod (almost no fat) and salmon.

They are available all year round either as wild catch or from farmed sources – you can always check our labels in the shop to see where our fish has been sourced. Whole sea bass have sharp spiky fins and robust scales which we can remove for you in the shop.

  • Choose your fish in the shop and we will remove the scales, clean and fillet it for you.
  • Allow one fillet per person – choose your fish size to suit your appetite.

We have lots of recipes for cooking these beautiful fish. Whole or fillets, oven, grill or in the pan they will all be delicious. Take a look below for some helpful tips and cooking inspiration:
